GREAT AYTON ALLOTMENT STORIES
An ongoing project documenting what the Great Ayton Allotments means to its members.
With an uncertain future due to the sale of the land on which the allotments sit, the residents are fundraising to secure its future as an integral part of the community.
I'm gathering a collection of stories through portraits and audio.
THE IMMEDIATE LANDSCAPE
Project - Ongoing
Selections Exhibited At Pineapple Black 2024
I find the road romantic - with its endless possibilities of escape and adventure.
It's an eternally moving landscape, blurred and intriguing - an invitation to freedom.
THE POWER - I've witnessed the powerful and positive effects of sport in the community - it's a beautiful thing.
FLEETING FRAGMENTS OF TIME
These photographs reflect a recognition of the light that exists in the landscape, and that which we witness in the home.
They are a reminder of our symbiotic relationship with nature, we move alongside, not against.
Our time on earth is not infinite, but our footprint is.

THE VERNACULAR LANDSCAPE
PROJECT - ONGOING
I've always been fascinated by the generations of families, taking care and advantage of the landscape in which they live.
Today, communities still work the land and sea, within an environment of industrial heritage.
FROM THE ROAD
SCENES FROM THE EDGE - Selection Exhibited - Ryedale Folk Museum Gallery 2021
With travel restricted to essential in 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic, capturing those grand vistas of the landscape wasn't possible. With an uncontrollable creative urge to make photographs, I turned to those scenes which interested me travelling through Yorkshire. They are an observation of the human interaction and impact on the landscape in which we live, and an account documenting, the eternal miracles of nature we may witness, if we stop, and take the time to connect to our surroundings.
A LANDSCAPE CONNECTED
SHORT FILMS
THE BLEAK MOOR
I travel across the moors throughout the year, and witness their majesty at each season. But with the unrelenting wind and the ever-changing light, the colder months speak to me more. It is a landscape shaped by a million seasons, with traces of a past still holding on.
